Ding 70, New Hardware Incoming!Posted by Cob on February 1, 2007, 04:45 PM Zomg, too much World of Warcraft
It's actually been quite some time since I hit level 70, and I'm just now getting out of the worlds fugliest equipment. Recent accomplishments: yesterday I hit exalted with the Mag'har, so I have a fancy red and white tabard which matches my red and purple pants. ;) I have my EPIC flying mount! I ended up transfering my hunter off of Stormreaver over to Uther so that I could pillage 1100gp from that character to finance the final chunk of gold I needed to bump up to the epic flying mount. I had farmed up about 1400gp prior to the BC launch, and have been questing like a mad mofo since release. The default flying mount is something like a 60% speed when in air, and is abysmally slow. With the epic mount being a 280% speed, it really feels like flying instead of floating. One downside to heading back to Azeroth, and then gating back to the inn on Aldor Rise, is... forgetting to swap your mount hotkeys back. Yesterday evening I rode my wolf off the top of the aldor lift, fully expecting to fly down to the bottom. I just didn't expect to do it with a pancake effect. ;) Zomg Hardware Currently GW is hosted out of Seattle at my companies hosting facility, but the two web servers it is served off of are beginning to buckle under the website load. Not only that, bandwidth out of that facility is relatively expensive, so they are interested in saving some money by moving me down to our new facility we are building out down here in Portland, OR (my hometown). The new server which I will be running off of is a quad-opteron. It's an absolutely massive 4U sized computer with three power supplies, 15k RPM cheetah drives and 8 gigs of RAM. ZOMG! I'm excited, really looking forward to the big performance boost we should see. ;) This server is an absolute beast, and it's been sitting around in our hardware storage for quite some time. |
