Fallee’s Adventure to NorthrendPosted by Fallee on August 14, 2007, 02:00 PM Fallee’s Adventure to NorthrendBlizzCon day two – Shrug and I arrived just before 10 am to a mass of BlizzCon attendees outside the exhibition hall. A roar went up as the doors were opened and the knot of people loosened as we all entered the convention. Undoubtedly following Blizzard’s advice of getting your gaming in early many people, including myself, rushed for the Wrath of the Lich King demo stations. After about 30 minutes under the screens of looping WoW videos it was my turn. Although I had transferred Fallee to the test servers I wanted to judge the caliber of the premades so I scrolled through the alliance options available to me. After checking the night elf druid for gear sets I switched to a female dwarf paladin. “Fallpal” (yeah I’m super creative) started on a dock outside darkshore. An NPC in a BlizzCon Murloc suit informed that the dock had been “borrowed” to allow us to get to Northrend. Sure enough, a boat soon arrived to take us to Valgarde, the first Alliance town in the Daggercap Bay region of Hollowing Fjord. A quick swing around the town on the provided Ghost Tiger mount did not reveal a lot. A couple NPCs (some of which sold commonly used items like reagents and water) inhabited the town that backed up to a cliff on one side and to a band of Vrykul on the other. Deciding there wasn’t much to see in Valgarde I hopped on the flight path to Fort Wildervar a town to the north. Fort Wildervar had the expected collection of NPCs selling wares, toiling over some endless task or another or just wandering the town making the same non-descript comment to all he passes. Of these NPCs, two had quests I could check out. The first man I talked to was “Foreman Colbey”…
Next I talked to “Christopher Sloan” who stood on the shore of a very cold looking lake…
Knowing that I was short on time and that the “water plants” he meant were directly in front of us I jumped straight into the lake and started “searching” the first water plant I found. It was at this point that I remembered I was playing an entirely unspecced paladin in blue dps gear. A level 69 “caldemere snapper” appeared after searching the first water plant. I poked him to death then moved on to another water plant to search for a barbfish. The second plant yielded a similar level snapper (which are, btw, crabs). The third plant however, hid a barbfish who dropped the quest fish and a gray “thick flipper”. I had now used my allotted 30 minutes of play and surrendered my station excited for the new continent and all the adventures it will include. |
